This drop in class is for the sewist that has some sewing experience, but still wants some instructional help while sharpening their skills. Come weekly or when your schedule permits. You choose your project and Becky will be here to help walk you through whatever questions pop up.

Teens Intro to Sewing
Students will learn the components of a sewing machine including how to load the bobbin, thread the machine, learn to sew a straight line, gain control of the sewing speed and pace, seam finishes, backstitching, pivoting and seam allowances. They’ll make a pillowcase as they learn basic machine sewing skills. We ask students bring a working machine (including power cord and pedal) but if they don’t have one, we can provide one. A sewing kit (pins, measuring tape, marking tools, fabric scissors, ruler) is suggested, but not required. Students will be provided with a materials list upon registration.

Sewing Machine 101
Bring your machine and Deb will teach you how to become friends with it! You will learn the basics of how to operate your machine, keep lint out of the bobbin, and how to keep it running smoothly.

Mother's Day Banners
Come make a banner for your mother, a mother or mother yourself. We will use vintage linens , lace, handkerchiefs, etc to create a beautiful banner which is also a wall hanging to cherish and adore for years to come.
We will be hand sewing. Come with whatever skills you have and bring a sewing kit if you have one , if not we will have all that you need.

Adult Sewing Series: Intro to Pattern Sewing
Students will learn the components of a sewing machine including how to load the bobbin, thread the machine, learn to sew a straight line, gain control of the sewing speed and pace, seam finishes, backstitching, pivoting and seam allowances. From there, they’ll learn how to lay out a pattern, read the instructions and assemble it. They’ll walk away from the class with a finished garment they can wear and the knowledge to make more!
We ask students bring a working machine (including power cord and pedal) but if they don’t have one, we can provide one. A sewing kit (pins, measuring tape, marking tools, fabric scissors, ruler) is suggested, but not required. Students will be provided with a materials list upon registration. Classes meet every Thursday, 12:30-2 PM through May 23rd.

Upcycling Old Textiles
Textile waste is responsible for close to 100 million tons of waste annually. Learn to reduce your footprint by upcycling and repurposing textiles, giving them new life. We’ll cover various methods of mending, altering existing clothing (including remaking items) as well as making new items out of unexpected items, like duvet covers, sheets, tablecloths and more. Some prior sewing knowledge is helpful.
Students should bring an upcycling project (or two) they’d like to work on. A sewing kit (pins, measuring tape, marking tools, fabric scissors, ruler) is suggested, but not required.

Adult Pattern Sewing Workshop
Students will learn how to lay out a sewing pattern and assemble it in this afternoon workshop. Some prior sewing knowledge is helpful. A sewing kit (pins, measuring tape, marking tools, fabric scissors, ruler) is suggested, but not required. Don’t forget your machine!
