Kitten Warming Pads
Join us for a community service project supporting the Lynchburg Humane Society. With kitten season in full swing, they are in need of heating pad covers to keep kittens warm and clean. Sewing skills are welcomed, but not required! There will be multiple ways to help, cutting fabric, sewing, ironing, and preparing materials! Instructions and guidance will be provided! Feel free to bring your own machine, but we will have machines you can use if you need one.

Simple Knitted Dishcloth
This course is designed to teach you the basic techniques of knitting: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. Learn how to make a knitted dishcloth and start your knitting journey! All materials will be provided, and instructions will be given at the end of the class going over everything you learned.

Fabric Mosaics: Create Your Own Kinusaiga Art
Bring your imagination and a love for color to this cozy, no-sew fabric art class! Using the Japanese technique of Kinusaiga, you’ll craft a 9” x 9” art panel from foam board and fabric scraps—turning leftover textiles into something beautiful. The studio will provide a variety of fabrics to choose from, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own special scraps or meaningful pieces to incorporate into their design. You’ll leave with a finished piece ready to hang and a newfound appreciation for fabric as an artistic medium.

Make your own linocut stamp! This class will teach the basics of stamp-making, including planning, carving, and printing. Each participant will make their own stamp and get to keep it once finished. All materials will be provided.

Bookbinding a Junk Journal
This hands‑on class teaches you the art of book‑binding as you create your very own Junk Journal from the ground up.
What You Will Learn
• How to make a book from scratch, using heavy chipboard and cloth.
• How to bind papers into a book
Who This Class Is For
This class is for creatives interested in learning how to bind handmade junk journals using the 3‑Hole Pamphlet Stitch. This class is ideal for beginners and experienced crafters alike. No artistic experience is required.

This is a perfect first sewing project! We'll use a dish drying mat to make a cute and functional fabric basket. In this class you'll also learn how to sew boxed corners.

Upcycled Magnet Making
Give new life to discarded materials in this fun and creative upcycling workshop! In this class, we will create unique, one-of-a-kind magnets using fabric scraps, paper, ribbon, and other reclaimed materials. Through simple techniques and plenty of creative freedom, you will learn how everyday items can be transformed into colorful, functional pieces of art.
This beginner-friendly class is suitable for a wide range of ages and skill levels. Participants will leave with a collection of handmade magnets and buttons perfect for decorating refrigerators, lockers, office spaces, or gifting to friends and family.

Sewing Machine 101
Never touched your machine? This is the class for you. Natania will teach you the basics of your machine. You'll learn everything you need to get started sewing. The class will teach about the the different parts of your machine, how to thread your machine and bobbin, how to read a sewing machine manual (or locate one if you don't have one), and all about sewing accessories that will help you sew with success.
A machine is not necessary for this class, but it will be helpful to have a machine to reference. Natania has a couple machines that can be used during the class. If you do not have a machine, please let us know, so we can prepare properly.

Upcycling with Applique
Create a one of a kind clothing item and learn applique in the process! This is a beginner friendly upcycle project that will give you the confidence to upcycle your clothes. Bring a sweatshirt or t-shirt you want to breathe new life into. We'll go over how to do applique work on clothing and how to do reverse applique. You can use some sun bonnet sue blocks that we'll provide or you can find fabric around the store to create your own design. Hearts, butterflies, flowers, boots, you name it, you can applique it. This project is perfect for a shirt with a stain on it or a shirt with a logo you want to hide.
This class is beginner friendly, but does require basic sewing knowledge. If you're a complete beginner consider attending Sewing 101 on August 2nd to prepare for this class.

Leather Wallet Workshop
In this workshop, you'll make your own leather wallet. You'll get to pick your leather and assemble your wallet. This is a fun project that you'll quickly become obsessed with. As an added bonus, you get to express your anger by hammering the hardware on.

Intro to Watercolors
Watercolor paints are “fluid” and have a tendency to flow and meander across the paper. This can produce a beautiful and unique “starburst” or just mingle together to form a new color. It is always a surprise !
In this class, you will receive a brief introduction to the color wheel and how to mix colors to form new colors.
If time permits, we will quickly paint an abstract landscape for you to take home and enjoy.

Jewelry Workshop: Hand Chain Bracelets
Learn the basics of jewelry making, and come away with a unique piece of your own. Options include a solar system bracelet, and a pendant hand chain. Many students will have time to make both. Beginner friendly. Materials are provided, although if you want to bring some beads, feel free!

Painting with Coffee
In this class we will be painting with a fresh brew of my morning coffee. We will use this coffee to create our own unique pigment by adding more or less water. This will produce the different shades of brown necessary for a monochromatic painting. As you apply each layer of coffee let it dry. Watermarks will slowly appear, creating a beautiful, one of a kind, design.

Botanical Art
Une natural objects like flowers, leaves and other plants and explore your creative side with a flair of natural whimsy.
Techniques will include gelli prints, mono prints, rubbing, paint impressions and watercolor prints.
This is a two day course on Saturday (2 hours) we will do all the messy things and prints and on Sunday (1.5 hours) we will refine those pieces.
Your takeaway will be multiple works of art and a lot of new ideas for your art making in the future!
All levels of artists are welcome!

Artivist Meet Up
Do you want to use your creativity to change the world? All artists, activists, ARTIVISTS, creative and critical thinkers are welcome! Let’s learn from one another and support each other’s initiatives. Led by Dannie Snyder, Interdisciplinary Artivist, we'll discuss our goals, choices in tactics, what's working, what's not, how we can avoid burnout, and resources for developing our theories and practices. This is also a great space to find allies and collaborators as well as to recruit volunteers for your projects.
Dannie Snyder is an independent voter that facilitates many nonpolitical and bipartisan projects that use the arts to inspire local and global change, particularly in regards to her work in access to medicine and healthy foods. While some of her projects may lean more to the left or right, her goal is to foster a safe space where we can all be seen and heard as human beings. We all have fears and flaws, so here is a space where we encourage each other in pursuing our dreams and where we can grow, both personally and as a community.
