In this class you will learn how to make common alterations to clothing already in your closet! Chloe will walk you through how to approach and correctly make common alterations such as: lengthening and shortening pants, skirts, dresses, or sleeves; taking in or letting out a waistband; reducing a waistband gap, taking in or letting out a garment; shortening straps, mending.
We'll start with short group demos of some common alterations: examples include hemming, taking in or letting out waistbands, and adjusting side seams. Then students will work on one or two repairs while Chloe circulates to help. Students should bring 2-3 items they’d like to alter to have a few options, but plan to complete one or two in class.
Students should also bring:
Thread if you would like an exact match
Notions (if needed, and if you would like an exact match)
Fabric (if needed, and if you would like an exact match)
Students should have experience using a sewing machine.
Don’t have your own machine? You can borrow one of ours, but please email chloeskyenagraj@gmail.com to reserve a machine.
