Join Ari (they/them) to learn a wet felting process for making colorful scrubby soaps covered in soft wool, a perfect present for the holidays. They’re like a washcloth and a soap in one! You’ll learn how to add optional sparkle with Angelina fibers and how to needle felt details like swirls and snowflakes. You’ll come away with at least two completed soaps, as well as all the knowledge you’ll need to make more on your own.

If you have a preferred kind of soap you’d like to use, or have sensitive skin or allergies, please bring your own soap bars. Otherwise, scented soap bars and all other materials will be provided for you. Come prepared to get your hands wet and soapy in this class.

Bring your imagination and a love for color to this cozy, no-sew fabric art class! Using the Japanese technique of Kinusaiga, you’ll craft a 12” x 12” art panel from foam board and fabric scraps—turning leftover textiles into something beautiful. The studio will provide a variety of fabrics to choose from, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own special scraps or meaningful pieces to incorporate into their design. You’ll leave with a finished piece ready to hang and a newfound appreciation for fabric as an artistic medium.

Join Ari (they/them) to learn how to make and use a dissolvable stick-on pattern for embroidery.

We’ll start by drawing, tracing, or stenciling an image onto the stick-on stabilizer. Then we’ll go over the lines with embroidery stitches. Ari will teach a few basic stitches, or if you are an experienced embroiderer you can go with what you know! We will have some relaxed time for stitching, then get a hands-on demo of how the stabilizer dissolves so that you can do it on your own once your embroidery is finished. Small and simple patterns can be finished in class, and if you want to do something more complex you’ll be able to wrap it up at home.

Bring a washable cloth item you’d like to add some embroidery to, or use cloth provided by the instructor. If you have an image you’d like to trace and use for a pattern, bring that along too.

Join Jennifer Perkinson for a class creating an embroidery sampler. A stitch sampler is a piece of fabric with a variety of stitches, often used for practice or reference. Those new to embroidery or wanting to practice and stitch with others are welcome. This is one of two October classes working on a stitch sampler. The classes will cover different stitches and can be taken individually or together. You’ll be provided with supplies needed for class and written instructions to take home for completing your project or future reference.

Come join us and make some festive decor for the spooky season! We will be using cotton rope to create a macrame ghost, jack o’ lantern, pumpkin, and/or bat. This simple project is perfect for those who have never done macrame as well as those more experienced. Everyone will have the opportunity to make multiple mini magnets to spruce up your decor for the fall season. Join instructor Ari (they/them) to learn the basics of embroidery materials and techniques while beginning a fun and flexible project. We’ll cover satin stitch, running stitch, and backstitch- possibly more depending on interest- and you’ll use your new skills to embellish a piece of printed fabric with your own stitches.

We’ll use 4 inch hoops, embroidery floss in a myriad of colors, and a choice of printed fabrics from the instructor’s stash. If you’d rather bring your own non-stretchy fabric (quilting cottons are great!) with a pattern that fits within a 4 inch circle, you are welcome to do so! Projects can be finished as a piece of hangable art using the hoop as a frame, or removed if you’d like to sew them onto something else.

Depending on the complexity of the design you choose, it is likely you will not complete the entire project in class. You’ll go home with the skills to continue embroidering on your own!

Come learn some practical visible mending basics from instructor Ari (they/them). These techniques can help with extending the life of your clothing and fabrics while making them more unique and beautiful. Not only that, you’ll be helping to keep materials out of the waste stream!

We’ll cover patching as well as boro-style straight stitching for added strength.

Please bring your own piece of clothing or other fabric item (bag, curtain, etc) to work on. Bring something that is made of a sturdy non-stretchy material; denim or canvas works great! If you don’t currently have a damaged item, you can either bring something of your own to practice on and add some embellishment, or the instructor can provide you with a piece of fabric.

For patches, you can bring non-stretchy fabric that you’d like to use, or the instructor will have some on hand to use.

We’ll get a start on your project and send you home with the materials and know-how to complete it.

We’ll use a specialized notched needle to draw with tufts of dyed wool on a pre-made felt background.
