Thank you so much!

Thanks to everyone who came out and shopped, took classes, and used our studio this weekend, we were able to donate almost $650 to the World Central Kitchen. I have heard that the Venezuelan government is not doing the best job of stepping in and helping its’ citizens and it is rather difficult for outside aid to get in and into the hands of the people who truly need it. However, I received an email from World Central Kitchen that said the following:

“This isn’t our first time on the ground in Venezuela—WCK has led multiple responses there, most recently supporting families displaced by Hurricane Beryl in 2024, Hurricane Julia in 2022, and during the migrant crisis from 2019 to 2022. This deep experience in the country allows us to respond quickly and effectively, drawing on established relationships and local knowledge.”

Because of this, it is my hope that this money gets in there and helps feed the hard working helpers and those who now have no home and have lost everything.

A few people emailed to let me know they would also be donating to the WCK, so shout out to you guys as well!

And speaking of shout-outs- here in Cville, it is Best of C-Ville time. If you have a minute and feel so inclined, would you please vote for Scrappy Elephant? We have been nominated in the following categories:

  • Arts and Crafts Classes

  • After-School activities

  • Place to throw a kid’s birthday party

  • Eco Retailer

  • Hobby and Game Shop

I know this is silly, but these acknowledgements do increase visibility to our little creative reuse center and help more people discover the magic of reuse and super affordable art supplies and art experiences. And we all need more of those things these days!

If you didn’t get a chance to come shop this weekend but still want to help the people of Venezuela get fed, here is the link to the World Central Kitchen.

With gratitude and love, Sarah Sweet and the Scrappy team
