Pieces of Me with Pikasso

  • The Scrappy Elephant (map)

Drop off your kiddo with Rebekah for two hours of art making fun!

If you've seen the work of Pablo Picasso, you know his way of creating was revolutionary for that time. People were used to seeing realistic renditions of portraits and scenes, but Picasso broke the mold as he and others began working in a cubist style - using simplifying features into shapes and using colors that captured the energy instead of the reality. In this class we will explore the work of Pablo Picasso and cubism by making a collage self portrait. Each student will cut pieces of paper in the shape of their facial features, taking inspiration from Picasso and his style. In my approach to teaching kids, I will give them instruction and guidance but also allow for individual artistic decisions. Your child will leave with a unique piece they should be proud of.
