We’d like to tell you about an artist named Paul F. Berdainer. His work hangs in the National Gallery, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and more. While he was known for his engravings, his pastel work is equally impressive. Why are we telling you about him? Yesterday his great granddaughter came in to donate two very special soft pastel sets, used by Berdainer in the course of his art career. Both sets are vintage, one is Grumbacher and the other is Schmincke, and they are both as soft as velvet and made of mostly pigment. His great granddaughter is hoping these sets go on to make many more works of art.

We are also happy to share a large lot of beautiful wool yarns today that we know will be made in to many more useful and wonderful things. One of the best parts of working here is seeing these supplies finding new homes and not going to waste!
