Winter Watercolor Snowflakes

  • The Scrappy Elephant (map)

In this relaxed class, we’ll explore the possibilities of using masking fluid with watercolor as we create a painting of gilded snowflakes!

Masking fluid enables white paper to be preserved in watercolor, and adding masking fluid to your painting arsenal will open up many creative options. Using snowflakes as a demo, Heather will guide the class through a series of easy steps that will build your practical knowledge of this essential tool in an approachable way. We’ll wrap up by adding some metallic gold details to our snowflakes with acrylic ink for a bit of holiday sparkle. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a beautiful seasonal painting and the ability to use masking fluid to enhance your own art.

Beginners are welcome in this class! No prior watercolor experience is necessary, and you’ll gain a sense of how fun this medium can be through our time together and ways to continue your learning if desired. If you have experience with watercolor but are new to masking fluid, or have unsuccessfully tried it previously, this class will provide a solid foundation for incorporating this exciting tool into your practice.

Come join us for a cozy time of holiday painting by discovering the magic of using masking fluid with watercolor!
